PPS van goes on a colour run and gets renamed!

Overgate Hospice is a charity that we have been involved with at PPS for a number of years now. Located in Elland, near Halifax, the hospice provides invaluable end of life care and support for patients and their families. We were saddened this week to find out that after a suspected arson at their premises in Hebden Bridge one of their vans had to be written off. The timing couldn’t have been worse as they have their annual colour run set to take place this weekend.

Now at PPS we find it hard to sit around and do nothing when there are ways we can help out within our community. So, the team got to it!

Just 12 hours after the incident we had cleaned and delivered one of our vans to Overgate for them to use until they have arranged a replacement for Vernon (as their van was affectionately known). It seems all their vans must have names and so the PPS van is now going by the name of Penny! We are just hoping she works as hard for them as she does for us. Delivering furniture and helping set up for a colour run is a bit different to her day job of pipework, compressors and pneumatics!

Can you help Overgate too?

In search of a new Vernon…
As Vernon was quite old Overgate won’t be able to afford a replacement van with just the insurance money alone. They have set up an appeal to raise an additional £2000. Any donations are greatly appreciated by the team at Overgate. Full details here.

Get involved in their colour run…
Set to be an amazing day this Saturday (8th July) at Saville Park, the colour run is a 5km route where you literally end up covered in coloured powder as you run! The finish line plays host to a ‘Colour Party’. It sounds to us like a great day out and all monies raised go towards caring for terminally ill patients at Overgate Hospice. Register here.
